Directions
Mix together:
3 c. flour
2 t. soda
1 t. baking powder
1⁄2 t. cloves
1⁄2 t. salt
1⁄2 t. nutmeg
1⁄2 t. cinnamon
Mix in:
1 lb. cherries
1⁄2 lb. mixed fruit
1⁄2 lb. pineapple
3⁄4 c. dates (optional)
1 c. raisins
3 c. nuts
Cream:
1⁄2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
To dry mixture alternately add creamed mixture and 1⁄2 c. grape juice and 1 1⁄2 cups applesauce. Turn into greased pans. Bake at 275° for 2 1⁄2 hours. Let set in pan 10 minutes, loosen sides and remove cake and let cool thoroughly.
