Ingredients

2 pkg. Raisins15 oz. each, seeded

2 c. Water

2 c. Sugar

1/2 lb. Butter

1 heaping t. Cloves

1 heaping t. Allspice

2 t. Cinnamon

2 t. Baking Soda

3-4 c. Flour

4 t. Baking Soda

1 c. Water

1 lb. WalnutsChopped
Directions
Put first eight ingredients in large pan. Bring to boil. Boil until butter is melted and all is foamy. Let cool. Add flour until dough is very stiff. (Start with 3 cups.) Combine 4 t. soda with water and mix with cake batter. Add more flour if need to make a stiff dough. Add walnuts. Pour into well greased loaf pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Makes 3 loaf pans.
